According to a survey by LinkedIn, 64 percent of active candidates browse on social media networks via their mobile devices for new careers prospects.
The rise of mobile recruitment enables job seekers and recruiters alike to access and request information easily, submit and review applications, and keep communication flowing quickly.

Job-posting website, Indeed.com revealed the average UK consumer now owns more than five portable devices, and more than half (66%) of individuals would apply for a job on a mobile device, if the process of applying was simple. Likewise, an IBM survey showed almost 6 in 10 candidates find companies that have mobile recruiting sites more desirable, and already a quarter will use mobile to complete the entire application process.
The research suggests many job seekers spend time browsing for jobs on their smartphones whilst on the go. Why? Well it is more convenient and the process of finding a role is simplified. As long as companies can keep the application process simple via mobile, more uptake will come, and more people will apply for more jobs. It is common sense now for companies to enable further mobile features such as a responsive website, the ability to apply for a job via a LinkedIn profile, or the option to record and send video applications.
How can recruiters use apps for recruiting?
Social recruitment apps can make it easier for recruiters to spot top talent and select candidates, review CV’s, schedule phone interviews and send out details for face-to-face job interviews – all through one interface, on the go. If managers have access to the same options, the internal approval process for making a new hire within a company can happen faster, as recruiters could select the best profiles and forward them to management for review in just a few clicks.
Likewise, for recruitment firms aiming to attract and retain as many job seekers to their sites as possible, offering an engaging mobile platform that is quick and simple can speed up processes and boost numbers using their service.
Will there be more use of apps in recruitment in the future?
Recruitment is becoming more and more mobile with the rise in technology. Applications on smartphones, tablets, and devices such as the Apple watch are set to bridge the gap between candidates and recruiters, and make communication and processes faster through instant messaging, video features and communities.
Recruiters want to attract better skilled workers and those that stand out, and networking with potential candidates via LinkedIn messaging, video conferencing and gamification-led job applications shapes the future of recruitment.

Candidates expect a mobile site that is user friendly and easy to read and use from tablets, smartphones, and smart watch devices, so a responsive career website and bug-free apps are essential. Nothing could be worse in terms of employer branding than an app aborting an application process right in the middle. Likewise, seamless integration and consistent user experience across the candidate touch points, such as the website and social media pages, is vital. Once these basics are in place, the users will come.
