Cross corporate learning, from ‘I’ to ‘we’
At LEARNTEC 2017 ‘cross corporate learning’ was the main trend discussed. This is a concept where companies with similar values support each other and work together on projects for employee promotion. Medium-sized companies with up to 500 employees can profit from this new concept by collaborating with other companies to optimise employee training.
Cooperate with the value chain
The idea that companies work together to promote their workforces may seem a little exotic. However, there are often favourable partnerships in the field of learning, like if the employees from a firm are partnered with colleagues from a manufacturing company.
Through cross-corporate learning, people can learn from the experience of both companies, and scenarios can be developed where existing barriers can be broken down, such as internal company blindness or incoherent KPIs. At the same time, costs and resources are saved when companies can work together.
The UK’s largest manufacturer of dashcams, Nextbase, recently collaborated with Sure Thing! Insurance services. Nextbase needed to break into the insurance market and through partnering with Sure Thing! they gained valuable sector insight, adding to the value of the business.
In some cases, competing companies may also have an interest in training their staff together to get the most out of the workforce. For example, the achievement of certain quality standards; Restaurant chains or restaurateurs could draw up joint hygiene trainings for their employees, as all parties have an interest in meeting these standards. Not only is the individual employee supported by both companies but also weak points in the companies learning structure can be identified and corrected. As a result, future cooperation amongst all sectors can be incredibly beneficial.
Forge an alliance of learning
In the end, however, the question remains: Who is providing companies with a platform where companies can carry out cross-corporate learning, while continuing specific training for their own employees?
